what we believe
You are loved, you are made in the image of the invisible God, you have value and worth, and your salvation is found only by believing in Jesus Christ.
God is real and at work today. He is the beginning and the end and exists in the three persons of the Godhead (also known as the Trinity): God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
-
God the Father has created all things and reaches out to embrace all people everywhere.
-
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for the sins of the world and rose again on the third day, ascended into heaven and will return imminently.
-
The Holy Spirit is present in the Church to reveal and instruct, comfort and correct, empower and direct the followers of Jesus.
Holy Scripture (the Bible) is the inspired written word of God and is without error in the original manuscripts. We receive the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments as our final, absolute authority, the only infallible rule of faith and practice. Therefore, it is of great value in our growth and development as followers of Jesus.
We are the church, Jesus' bride, who He loves. We believe that through us God plans to make His saving love known to the World. He has called us to go and make disciples (people who are following and learning about Jesus) of all the nations. We believe that our highest calling is to worship God in word and action. We aim to express this through the love and devotion in our music and compassion and generosity embodied in our lifestyles.
vineyard distinctives
Grace Vineyard is affiliated with Vineyard Churches UK & Ireland. We subscribe to the Vineyard Churches statement of faith.
Vineyard Churches has some distinctives that define our personality in the wider Church, and carry our unique way of doing life as Christians. They are the things that might stand out to you if you were visiting a Vineyard church for the first time.
The main and the plain
We base everything we do on the ‘main and the plain’ teaching that Jesus gave. We refer to what the Scriptures say as the basis for all our doctrine and practice.
The now and the not yet
Our theology and practice of the Kingdom acknowledges both miracles and suffering. We pray for people and sometimes they are healed and sometimes they are not.
Come, Holy Spirit
This is our central prayer. We all need a constant filling of the Holy Spirit. In the Vineyard we believe the Holy Spirit is available to us all the time to renew, refresh and restore.
Worshippers of God and rescuers of men and women
We are given to express worship and compassion in every part of our lives. This is our expression of loving God and loving our neighbours. Compassion is a natural overflow of our worship to God.
Everyone gets to play
We believe that anyone can do the work of the Kingdom. We are all commissioned – men and women, children, of every age, race and background, to join God in His restoring work; ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Come as you are - but don't stay as you are
You are loved no matter what state you are in when you come to the Vineyard. We believe that Jesus can love us all to health and wholeness.
Naturally supernatural
We avoid all hype or emotional manipulation. Going about our lives naturally, we pray and listen for God’s voice in all circumstances.
Equipping the saints
We will continually invest ourselves in training and equipping God’s people to do what Jesus did, equipping the saints for ministry (Ephesians 4:12). All of us are called to do our bit in the Kingdom.
Plant churches who plant churches
The very nature of the Gospel and the Church leads to reproduce Kingdom outposts in the world – the planting of new churches. New churches attract new people and new converts.
