Doing the stuff
Here at Grace Vineyard, we believe that “doing the stuff” is what Jesus has called us to do.
In what has become known as The Great Commission, Jesus said: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
“When do we get to do the stuff? You know, the stuff here in the Bible; the stuff Jesus did, like healing the sick, raising the dead, healing the blind – stuff like that?”John Wimber (Founder of The Vineyard Movement)

Streets Outreach is a simple, but beautiful way, to reach out to the lost and hurting on the streets of our town. It enables us to connect with our community every other week, powerfully expressing God’s love in the market place, whatever the weather. We simply engage with people in conversation, often beginning with The Miracle Question, and during the course of the conversation ask if there is anything that we can pray for them.
The model is simple yet profound, gentle yet powerful, full of God’s presence and brimming over with love. We create a thin place on the streets where heaven and earth meet, and people can encounter Jesus. It is marked by a true sense of peace. Amongst the hustle and bustle of busy shoppers, walks the Prince of Peace. The kingdom comes, stillness falls; passers-by begin to slow and stop, as the deepening presence of God draws their hearts. Over time we build relationships, creating stepping stones for people to come to Jesus, and be healed along the way.
We meet at the Purley Cross underpass, on the Godstone Road side, at 11AM every other Saturday – see calendar to find out when we’re next there.
Purley Food Hub is a local independent food bank set up by Churches Together in Purley and Kenley.
We have a collection box for food donation out every Sunday. Please get in touch to find out what to bring.
