When Satan offered Jesus “all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour”, in exchange for Jesus bowing before him and worshipping him, Jesus never challenged the devil on his authority to make that offer, because He knew the offer was valid, rather He quoted scripture telling the devil who we are to worship. How did Satan come to have this authority, to make this offer to Jesus, and why would it be a tempting offer for Jesus to even consider?
