Doing the stuff

Here at Grace Vineyard, we believe that “doing the stuff” is what Jesus has called us to do.

In what has become known as The Great Commission, Jesus said: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

“When do we get to do the stuff? You know, the stuff here in the Bible; the stuff Jesus did, like healing the sick, raising the dead, healing the blind – stuff like that?”John Wimber (Founder of The Vineyard Movement)

Our aim is to provide good quality second-hand/nearly new clothes and equipment for children up to 5 years old, completely free of charge to anyone who needs it, regardless of their income, background, or faith.

Healing on the Streets

Healing on the Streets is a simple, but beautiful way, to reach out to the lost and hurting on the streets of our town. It enables us to connect with our community every other week, powerfully expressing God’s love in the market place, whatever the weather. We simply invite people to sit on chairs so we can pray for them.

The HOTS model is simple yet profound, gentle yet powerful, full of God’s presence and brimming over with love. We create a thin place on the streets where heaven and earth meet, and people can encounter Jesus. It is marked by a true sense of peace. Amongst the hustle and bustle of busy shoppers, walks the Prince of Peace. The kingdom comes, stillness falls; passers-by begin to slow and stop, as the deepening presence of God draws their hearts. Over time we build relationships, creating stepping stones for people to come to Jesus, and be healed along the way.

We meet at the Purley Cross underpass, on the Godstone Road side, at 11AM every other Saturday – see calendar to find out when we’re next there.

At Healing on the Streets, we believe God loves you and can heal you. We are aware that prayer and medical advice are complementary, not mutually exclusive. We encourage everyone to seek essential treatment for conditions which medical advice should be sought. If you are on any medication stay on it. Under no circumstances should you stop doing anything a medical professional or counselor has advised.

Alongside HOTS we have WORSHIP ON THE STREETS – WOTS – where members of our church worship team worship God through song; singing current worship songs as well as many of the well loved hymns. As believers in Jesus Christ we carry the presence of God with us wherever we are, but when we worship we release the presence of God where we are and worship changes the atmosphere of the area and brings others into the presence of God in the centre of our town.

Purley Food Hub is a local independent food bank set up by Churches Together Purley and Kenley.

We have a collection box for food donation out every Sunday. Please get in touch to find out what to bring.
